Our Own Home Grown Story
West Orchards is located near the fertile banks of Lake Erie, in Lake County, in the north east corner of Ohio. On our 70 acre farm we grow many deciduous fruit tree varieties including sour cherries, peaches, plums, nectarines, pears, & apples.
Stop by the farm with your families for pick your own strawberries and sour cherries.
Large patches & tree rows, make pick your own a very simple & pleasurable activity. Please call ahead for availability. (approximate dates - Mid June thru July) We have also recently planted brambles & sweet cherries. They will be ready for u-pick in about a year or two.
We also grow lots of small veggies like peppers, cukes, pickles, cabbage, tomatoes, yellow squash, zucchini, beets, gourds & pumpkins.
And don't forget our delicious bi-color sweet corn. You know if that corn trailer is out front, it's full of fresh picked West corn.
New this year we will be adding lettuce & fresh herbs!

Century Farm Honors
By The Tribune
"Todd and Ame West of Perry Township's West Orchards are the proud recipients of a special certificate recognizing their Century Farm. Signed by Governor John R. Kasich and director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture, the certificate is meant to be kept with their historic documents and be passed down to future generations. It was the only Lake County Century Farm named in 2011 and it joined 51 others in the state.
Todd and his wife, Ame, are the fifth generation of Wests to farm this land -- established by the family in 1891. Today their 66 acres are less than half that farmed by Todd's dad, Richard and his uncle, Donald, now retired. Because the farm is closer to Lake Erie than many others, their weather is moderated by the lake which helps them escape late spring frosts and early autumn freezes. During the growing season the Wests operate a farm market at 3034 North Ridge Road and open their strawberry fields to pick-your-own aficionados early each June."
